Overview

A build that fits your home, your street, your life.

Most Plymouth garages are too narrow for a modern car and end up storing bikes, freezers and forgotten boxes. Converting them is one of the fastest, lowest-disruption ways to add a usable room.

We re-floor with insulated solid floor or beam-and-block, build up the walls with insulated stud or block linings, replace the up-and-over door with a proper wall and window, and tie everything into your existing electrics and heating.

Whether it's an integral garage in a 1970s Estover semi or a detached block in Plympton, we treat it like a proper room — not a tarted-up shed.

Benefits

Why homeowners choose this route.

01

Fast turnaround

Most conversions complete in 4–6 weeks with minimal disruption to the rest of the house.

02

Cost-effective

Per square metre, garage conversions are the cheapest way to add habitable space — typically £1,200–£1,800 per m².

03

No planning hassle

The vast majority of Plymouth garage conversions are Permitted Development.

04

Versatile use

Home office, gym, snug, utility, playroom, ground-floor bedroom with en-suite — or a fully self-contained annexe.

05

Warmer house

Insulating the garage usually fixes the cold spot in the room above it as a bonus.

06

Looks like the original house

Brickwork, render or rendered block matched to your existing facade so it doesn't shout 'converted garage'.

FAQs

Common questions.

Got something specific? Send us a message and we'll come back the same working day.

Does a garage conversion need planning permission?
Most don't — they're treated as Permitted Development. Conservation areas and some new-build estates have restrictive covenants we'll check before starting.
Will the floor need replacing?
Almost always. Garage floors are usually uninsulated and often slope towards the door. We dig out and lay an insulated solid floor or beam-and-block to bring it level with the rest of the house.
Can you keep some garage storage?
Yes — partial conversions (front for storage, back for living) are common, especially with detached garages.
Will it affect my house insurance?
Once it's habitable space your insurer needs to be informed. We provide all the certificates you'll need to update your policy.
